Remembering Robert Munsell

Robert Munsell

Bob was a loving, fun and adventurous person. He made friends easily and was a good friend to many Guemes community members. Bob passed away peacefully the morning of November 21, 2023 with family by his side at Harborview in Seattle. Bob was born July 17, 1937 to John & Alice Munsell. He grew up in Ballard and spent his childhood summers on Guemes Island experiencing many outdoor adventures. Bob attended Ballard High School; he then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy in the area of underwater demolitions. After the Navy, Bob worked as a mechanic at auto dealerships before venturing out on his own. Many years later in life, Bob reconnected with his high school sweetheart Drienna Millard and they married on July 7, 2001.

Bob kept busy in retirement building their Guemes dream home, tinkering with motorized vehicles, boats, heavy equipment and various projects. He enjoyed helping his Guemes neighbors using his skills and machinery whenever needed. Bob also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and sharing his love for his Guemes paradise with family and friends. We all miss him.

Bob was preceded in death by father John Munsell, mother Alice Munsell, brother Dick Munsell (Sylvia) and wife Drienna Munsell. Bob is survived by three step-children Todd Bohon (Holly), Cynthia Cooper (Dino), Leah Plaisance (Chris), step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and sister Nancy Ermert.

A private Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his Guemes Island home.

Donations may be made in Bob’s honor to: Guemes Island Fire Dept., 6310 Guemes Island Rd, Anacortes, WA 98221
