Remembering Glee Haupt

Glee Arnine Haupt passed away on October 22, 2024, after a fulfilling journey through life that she enjoyed and lived with optimism, hope and love. Glee was born in Everett, WA to Gus and Arnine Reep on October 14,1928. She graduated from Everett High School and attended the University of Washington Nursing School. While a student nurse at Virginia Mason Hospital she met her husband, Philip E. Haupt at an event for U.S. Air Force officers who were in Seattle for aircraft operational training with Boeing. Literally swept off her feet, she was married six weeks later and an adventure around the world with Captain Haupt took flight. Through their tours in the military, Glee and Phil had 5 children born in military bases throughout the country. She spent the next two decades traveling to different military bases across the country and abroad with her family. She spent her entire life as a wife and mother.

Phil retired from the Air Force in 1967 and in 1969 moved the family to Mount Vernon to join Glee’s cousin Ray Reep in the acquisition of Bob’ Sport Center. Her best friend and husband, Phil passed away in 1991. Her life became entirely committed to her 5 children and her 8 grandchildren that she loved unconditionally and taught that generosity and kindness are the path to a happy and fulfilling life. She believed that our priority in life is our children. She dedicated her life to time with her family. Traveling to Europe with her daughters and summer trips to their Savary Island beach cabin and her daughter’s lake house on Priest Lake. Family gatherings on Guemes Island, kid-sitting in Sun Valley and her annual birthday party became a family tradition, and the celebration of the year for the Haupt family! She lived a life built on a foundation of kindness, generosity, and a spirit of fun that always included a dance or two with her handsome family members at their frequent gatherings. Van Morrison’s, When the Leaves Come Falling Down will live on as her favorite song, and a wonderful memory of an incredible person.

Glee was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Arnine Reep, husband Philip E. Haupt, brother Erland Reep and eldest child, Philip E. Haupt, JR.

She is survived by her children, Ann (Rob) Wallace, Lynn Haupt (David Short), James Haupt (Carolyn), Mary Haupt and grandchildren, Robbie Wallace (Maria) , Brian Wallace, Ryan Moe, Eric Moe, Jenna Rindal, Alexandra Haupt, Hannah Haupt, Shelby Haupt and great grandchildren, Trey Brown, Levi Wallace and Ellie Wallace.

A celebration of life will be held for Glee at a private family event in December. In the memory of Glee Haupt, we recognize her passing with donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Skagit County.
