Remembering Lois Bertolino

Lois Ann Bertolino (74) a longtime resident of Guemes Island (Anacortes) passed away on January 9, 2022.  

She was born on April 12, 1947 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leroy and Lucille Behling.

Lois was self-employed in her career of choosing for over 50 years; blending her passions for jewelry and poetry. In her workshop on Guemes Island she handcrafted silver jewelry that featured Northwest wildlife imagery, and it was displayed in galleries throughout the US and locally at Burton's Jewelers. She also showcased her artwork in the annual Arts and Crafts Festival in Anacortes.

Lois shared her talent for poetry with the world when she wrote, Chewing the Past - 50 Years of Poems, and dedicated it to the memory of her beloved mom, Lucille.  

Aside from her love of jewelry and poetry, Lois stayed busy as a volunteer for the Anacortes Community Theatre for 12 years. Lois was predeceased by her parents.  She is survived by her brother Larry (Paula Symons) Behling of Oregon, WI; nephew, Joel (Kate) Symons and great nephew Ellington of Milwaukee, WI; and former husband James Bertolino of Bellingham, WA.  Lois will be laid to rest in Wisconsin.

Memorials in her honor may be made to any of her favorite charities: St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Alzheimer's Association, The Anacortes Community Theatre or to a charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held at Evans Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 18th 2022 at 1pm.
