Holiday Bazaar:
The Guemes Island Historical Society has hosted the widely popular Holiday Bazaar for many years. Due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic (the Delta variant in particular), the historical society's executive board has unanimously decided not to sponsor the event this year. We are sorry for any disappointment this decision brings to the community and the fine vendors who have supported the GIHS over the years. Although the Holiday Bazaar is a a major source of funding for our society, public safety is a priority and to err on the side of caution was the correct course of action. The society looks forward to sponsoring the event once again in 2022.

GIHS Meetings:
In light of the pandemic's continuation, the society will continue to hold it's business meetings on the 2nd Monday of each month at the church. They are scheduled to begin at 5:45 pm. Meeting minutes will be posted on Linetime. If attending, masks and social distancing are required and attendance may be limited to meet currant guidelines. Programs will be begin again once it is safe to do so.

Rural Heritage Digitzation Project:
The Guemes Library and the GIHS have now fulfilled all requirements for receiving the Washington State Library's Rural Digitization Project grant. Over 100 photos along with their meta data have been uploaded to the site. The photos can be viewed online at:

https://www.washingtonruralheritage.org/digital/collection/guemes

This is an ongoing project and new photos will be added on a continuing basis. If you have photos you would like to share for posting to this site, comments, or can update or correct listed meta-data, please contact us at: guemeshistory@gmail.com

The Guemes Island Historical Society wishes all a safe and healthy holiday season.
