GIHS April and May meetings

              The Guemes Island Historical Society

The Guemes Island Historical Society's April meeting will be held on Monday the 18th, 2022. This will be a business meeting only and there will be no program on that date. The board will be discussing membership, election of officers at the May meeting, GIHS's participation in the GICCA memorial day celebration and planning the presentation for the upcoming May program. The meeting will be held at the Guemes Island Community Church beginning at 5:45pm.

On Monday May 9th the GIHS will resume its normal schedule with a business meeting beginning at 5:45pm with an election of officers for the coming year. “20 Years of History.” will be the theme for our presentation. The presentation will include information on the formation of the society, some early members, its goals and achievements along with highlights of events the society has sponsored over the years. There will be an update on the collaboration with the Guemes Island Library's digitization project under the auspices of the Washington State Library's Rural Heritage Project. The program will close with a request for interested individuals to become active members of the society.

All are welcome to attend this event. We offer a special invitation to members of the community who spearheaded the formation of the GIHS and supported it through the years.

Even though the covid mandates are lifting, we encourage attendees to bring their masks and participate in a safe, responsible manner. Our gathering will abide by the rules of the church at the time of the event. If you have questions, please feel free to call (or text) Tom at 360-708-2582 or email: deachtom@gmail.com. Hope to see you on the 18th!
