June 8, 2020

Commissioner Margeson called the Regular Fire Commissioners meeting to order at 7:01 pm. 

Because of COVID-19, the June 8, 2020 was conducted virtually.

Present: Commissioners Margeson, Murphy, Crawford, Chief Francis, Treasurer Davelaar, Secretary Kankaala, Matthew Enos

The minutes of May 11, 2020 were unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning May Operating Fund cash balance was $84,248.53. Beginning May General Investment Fund balance was $12,011.85.  Beginning May Capital Fund cash balance was $102,844.83. Beginning May Capital Investment Fund balance was $33,935.17. Grand total is $233,040.38.

May expenses were $5,947.79. Payroll for May was $2,356.20, and VFF stipends were $810.00 for a grand total of $9,113.99 in May expenditures. 

May revenue included $16,653.13 in taxes collected, $150.00 in donations, $15.77 in Timber Excise, and $7.55 in interest. Total May revenue was $16,826.45.

District 17 Commissioners reviewed and approved the Treasurer’s Report, invoices, and firefighter stipends at their June 8, 2020 public meeting. Commissioner Murphy made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, and Commissioner Crawford seconded; motion was approved unanimously.

Chief’s Report: See attached report for a list of drills and responses. 

GIFD will resume drills starting the second June.

Ferry Loading Dock Repairs have been postponed, until possibly the end of the month.  

Cadet FF J.T. Butler has turned 18 and will be instated as a full member of the Guemes Island Fire Department.

Old Business: The District 17 Fire Commissioners have not received a response from the Skagit County Commissioners, regarding the flooding of Edens Road.

Skagit County has moved to Phase 2, and the Guemes Island Fire Department is following the recommendations of the Safe Start Program developed by Washington State.

New Business: None 

The next resolution will be 422.

The next regular meeting will be July 13, 2020 at 7:00 PM in the Fire Hall. 

The meeting adjourned at 7:22 PM.
