The Guemes Island Volunteer Exchange

The Guemes Island Volunteer Exchange (G.I.V.E) was formed in 1991 by a group of people wanting to establish an emergency fund to provide help for individuals and families caught in severe need.

They requested representatives from each of the Guemes Island organizations to serve on the committee. The exchange is activated by a person making a request for help to any member of the group. Any request has full confidentiality. The exchange does not give cash but will help directly to folk’s need, i.e,. grocery voucher, rent paid to landlord, ferry ticket. The exchanged is usually on “one time” helper. G.I.V.E. funding has been by donations from the groups that are represented on the board.

It is time to ask for direct donations from Islanders and fundraisers as the Guemes Island Store will be doing. The need has increased.

If you wish to donate you may send a check to Guemes Island Church, 7611 Guemes Island Rd, Anacortes, 98221, with G.I.V.E. in the memo line or directly to G.I.V.E. C/O Bob Prescott, 4384 Salmon Run Road, Anacortes, WA 98221.

Thank you for your support.

Exchange members are: Penny Hewitt, Larry Pyke, Bob Prescott, Bonita Smith, Julie Pingree
