Regular Commissioner Meeting

January 8, 2018

Commissioner Margeson called the Regular Fire Commissioners meeting to order at 7:00PM.

Present: Commissioners Margeson and Crawford, Chief G. Francis, Assistant Chief O. Snell, Mechanic L. Pyke, Treasurer Davelaar, Secretary Kankaala

Community Member:  Matt Enos

The minutes of December 11, 2017 were unanimously approved, after a correction to the Chief’s report stating  that Nancy White had only resigned as Chief Medical Officer. Nancy White was not an Assistant Chief.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning January Operating Fund cash balance was $72,400.44. Beginning January General Investment Fund balance was $11,469.26. Beginning January Capital Fund cash balance was $72,844.83. Beginning January Capital Investment Fund balance was $32,402.28. Grand total is $189,116.81. December  expenses were $9,914.75, payroll was $2,795.00, and FF stipends for December  were $1,004.00 for a grand total of $13,713.75 in December expenditures. December revenue included $656.62 in taxes collected, $10.33 in interest, and $1,250.00 in donations.


Open: Mechanic Pyke encouraged prompt backfill of the Medical Officer position, and that pay of the Medical Officer position not be decreased from the present amount.


Chief’s Report: See attached report for a list of drills and responses.  The District Medical Officer position has been offered to Eric Kankaala. Eric Kankaala has accepted the position. For the first 6 months, probation period, the salary will be $300 a month. After 6 months, the salary will increase to $420 a month.  Commissioner Crawford made a motion to approve the salary for Medical Officer at $300 for the first six months, with an increase of $420 after six months. The motion was passed unanimously. This will be Resolution 388.  

Old Business: Succession Planning for GIFD command will be discussed during the Officer’s meeting, January 15, 2018. Tire replacement on GIFD apparatus is in progress. Tire replacement on 1716 is completed.

New Business: None

The Commissioners reviewed the invoices from December 9, 2017 to January  5, 2018 and approved invoices in the amount of $9,914.75 and payroll of $2,795.00 for a total of $12,709.75.

The next regular meeting will be February 12 , 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Fire Hall.
