GIPAC: Notice of Annual Meeting: Nov 18, 2017

The Guemes Island Planning Advisory Committee (GIPAC) will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, November 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Guemes Island Community Center.  We hope you will plan to attend

Skagit County Assistant Planning Director Ryan Walters will speak about the county's new permitting process for a potable water catchment system as an alternative to a drilled or dug well. Michael Brown and Steve Orsini will also speak about water issues that are unique to Guemes Island and its sole source aquifer. Three positions on the board will be filled by election at the meeting, and the GIPAC activities of the past year will be reported.

GIPAC is authorized by Skagit County to represent islanders in monitoring the Guemes Island Subarea Plan, which, after 20 years of planning by islanders, was adopted by the Skagit County Board of Commissioners in 2011. The Subarea Plan attempts to preserve the rural character and the natural resources of Guemes Island.
