Remembering Tom Allison

Thomas C. (Tom) Allison,96, longtime resident of Anacortes, Guemes Island and Seattle passed away on February 2, 2017 at Chandler’s Square in Anacortes, Washington.

He was born on January 25,1920 in Lisbon, North Dakota to Joseph and Anne Allison and was an only child. At the age of 9 his family moved to Minnesota where his father entered the theater business.

In 1942, after Tom graduated from North Dakota State University, he came to Seattle to work for the Boeing Company in their engineering department writing B-17 and B-29 test manuals and procedures used for training personnel. Tom married Martha Rutherford of Tacoma in 1944. They had no children. In 1955, Tom joined Western Gear Corp., working in a variety of technical and administrative positions until retiring in 1980 as Field Service Manager.

In 1955, Tom and Martha bought property on Guemes Island and moved there full time in 1978. They both loved to travel and did so extensively by car, air and RV. Tom loved to go out for morning coffee at the local cafes, visit with his buddies and spend innumerable hours on his computer.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Martha and four double-first cousins whom he always referred to as his sisters. He is survived by many cousins in North Carolina where his parents originated.

Tom was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Guemes Island Community Church, Anacortes Elks Lodge 1204 and the Friday Boys. He requested cremation and that no services be held. Contributions can be made to your favorite charity in his memory.
