GIPAC Proposals Receive Planning Department Support

The Skagit County Planning and Development Services Department has released its recommendations on a number of proposals submitted by the Guemes Island Planning and Advisory Committee (GIPAC), in preparation for discussion regarding the 2016 Comprehensive Plan Update by the Skagit County Planning Commission on May 24th.

The Planning Department is providing welcome support for two key proposals that are critical to implementation of the Guemes Island Sub-Area Plan:  a zoning overlay to better tailor zoning standards to island conditions, and an amendment to the Critical Areas Ordinance to incorporate the Seawater Intrusion Policy, which will formalize the previously “interim” policy in County code.
